Dmitrij Kapitelman: Russian Specialties (Hanser Berlin, 2025)<\/strong><\/p>

A family from Kyiv sells Russian specialties in Leipzig. Vodka, pelmeni, SIM cards – and a kind of Eastern European feeling of togetherness. Although the latter is no longer available since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The mother is on Putin’s side. And her son, who loves no language more than Russian, but also no city more than Kyiv, is in despair. It is not wise of him to return to Ukraine in the middle of the war. But what should he do if there is no other way to get mom back from fascism and the crazy Russian TV lies?

Yevgeniy Breyger: Peace without war (kookbooks, 2023)<\/strong><\/p>

In three parts, Yevgeniy Breyger deals with the history of his Jewish family from the Holocaust to his flight from Ukraine after the start of the Russian war of aggression in his poetry collection “Peace without War” in the most intimate way. In episodes, he combines current events from the war with direct experiences of the poet and his family, which are placed in context. In addition to historical continuities and shifts in the family constellation, he also questions the consequences for the languages that shape his life. <\/p>
