After studying international relations, law, and European politics and administration, Guez worked for the OSCE, among other organizations, and served as an observer in many crisis regions around the world. As a journalist, he has worked for *Lib\u00e9ration*, *Le Monde*, and *The New York Times*, and writes as a cultural correspondent on France for publications including the *FAZ*.
