On September 3, the young globale\u00b0 <\/strong><\/strong>was awarded one of the two third-place prizes in the DKS Award presented by the German Child Allowance Foundation in Bremen. The award recognized the writing project\u201cThe Power of Narrative\u2014Writing Short Stories,\u201dled by satirist and writer Osman Engin and artist and musician Manuela Weichenrieder with a group of 10th-grade students at Waller Ring High School\u2014now in its ninth year in 2026. Since 2017, the two Bremen students* <\/em>encourages them to write their own stories and make their perspectives visible.<\/i><\/p>

The DKS Award recognizes initiatives that promote integration and combat the exclusion and discrimination of children and young people. The German Child Benefit Foundation was founded by parents in Bremen who are committed to greater equality of opportunity\u2014a goal that is also central to the work of junge globale\u00b0.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>

Manuela Weichenrieder read one of this year\u2019s entries at the awards ceremony, where Myriam Mac\u00e9, coordinator of junge globale\u00b0<\/strong>, accepted the prize. In \u201cZelys, the City of Possibilities,\u201d Eysa Celik tells the story of an encounter on a bus and a dream city that emerges from unlived possibilities and decisions left unmade. <\/em><\/p>

The prize money will be used to support numerous students again in 2027*<\/em>will benefit from the five-day writing workshop. Interested students <\/i>Students and teachers are welcome to contact Myriam Mac\u00e9 at globale@uni-bremen.de<\/a><\/em><\/p>
