This fall, junge globale\u00b0<\/strong> is bringing three multifaceted authors to the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art<\/strong>, where they will read from their new publications for Bremen schools and students: Fikri An\u0131l Alt\u0131nta\u015f writes <\/strong>his novel in German, Donka Dimova <\/strong> writes <\/strong> her <\/strong>poetry in German, and Justine Sow writes her <\/strong>comic in French.<\/p>

25. <\/strong>September 25, 2026, 10:00\u201311:30 a.m.: Fikri An\u0131l Alt\u0131nta\u015f reads from<\/strong><\/p>

An adult son loses his mother. In the weeks leading up to her death, daily life sets the pace: cooking, waiting in hospital hallways, hoping, and grieving. Stories creep into this daily routine\u2014the ones that were always told, and the ones that shine through from behind them. What does the son, living in Germany, know about his mother\u2019s youth in Turkey? While Anil and his family try to come to terms in the present with the impact their mother\u2019s approaching death is having on them, M\u00fcr\u00fcvvet\u2014the woman his mother once was\u2014is searching for a way to live her life in Ayd\u0131n, in western Turkey, in 1973. Amid political upheaval, she does everything she can to prevent her father from taking her to Germany. She fears for her dreams, until the thought of Germany becomes impossible to shake. A novel about leaving Turkey behind and starting anew in Germany, about the often unbearable distance from those who are physically closest to us\u2014and about the desperate desire to make up for lost love. <\/p>

Alt\u0131nta\u015f<\/strong> writes about masculinities, anti-feminism, and the (de)construction of masculinities associated with migrant backgrounds, including in *Die Zeit* and for Deutschlandfunk Kultur. He studied in T\u00fcbingen, Berlin, and Istanbul and serves as a volunteer #HeForShe Germany ambassador for UN Women Germany. His most recent works include the performance *Zeitenwende* at Schauspiel Hannover in 2025 (in collaboration with Katharina Wisotzki), the novel *Zwischen uns liegt August* (2025), and the children\u2019s book *30 Real Boys* (with Paul Brodowsky). In 2026, he received the Robert Gernhardt Prize. Alt\u0131nta\u015f lives and works in Berlin. <\/p>

October 28, 2026, 10:00\u201311:30 a<\/u>.m<\/u>.: Donka Dimova reads from her prose poems<\/strong><\/p>

Donka Dimova<\/strong> was born in 1986 in Burgas, Bulgaria. She studied political science and European studies in Bremen and Hanover and currently works as a poet, translator, and cultural mediator. Her first poetry collection, *Translation of Everyday Life*, was published in 2014, and since 2016 she has been leading artistic and educational projects for children and young people. In 2022, she received the Emerging Artists Fellowship from the Bremen Authors\u2019 Fellowship, and in 2025 she published her collection of prose poems, *Mehrfamilienhaus ohne Aussicht*. <\/p>

The reading will take place as part of this year’s globale\u00b0<\/a><\/strong>, Bremen\u2019s festival for cross-border literature. <\/p>

November 27, 2026, 10:00\u201311:30 a.m. & 1:00\u20132:30 p.m.:Justine Sow will first lead a workshop on storytelling in comics and then read from her comic *Wax Paradoxe* (2025, Bayard Graphic) for French courses at the A2 level and above (both sessions will be held in French):<\/p>

Today, colorful wax fabric is regarded worldwide as the epitome of African identity\u2014yet its roots lie in Indonesia and European colonial history. In her comic *Wax Paradoxe*<\/strong><\/b> (2025), Justine Sow tells the story of Sophia, a design student who sets out to get to the bottom of this fascinating contradiction. <\/p>

Good to know: The comic was part of the 2025\u20132026 edition of the Francomics competition, so there is a wealth of material available online for foreign language instruction.<\/p>

Justine Sow is <\/strong> <\/strong>Born in Brussels. Since 2008, she has been working as a journalist in the audiovisual sector, covering social and political issues. After studying journalism, she earned an interuniversity certificate in migration, ethnic diversity, and intercultural relations in 2016. In 2024, she also completed a master\u2019s degree in comics and publishing in Brussels. In February 2025, her book *Wax Paradoxe<\/em>* her first self-published album as a writer and illustrator. <\/p>

The reading will take place as part of this year’s Print Art Festival at the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art.<\/p>
