01.11. | Rachid Benzine | 11.00 a.m.

As a political scientist and Islam researcher, but also as an author of literary texts and as president of the jury of the Prix littéraire de la Porte dorée, Rachid Bezine is an important voice in contemporary France. In his first texts, he explored his family history in literary terms and has now turned his gaze to Gaza with his recently published book L’homme qui lisait des livres (August 2025, Paris: Julliard). Through the life story of an old bookseller, which the text reveals, the history of this violence-ridden region is told and combined with a great plea for the power of culture and literature.
