29.10 | Oxana Matiychuk: Literature in/from war. A report from Chernivtsi, | 18.00
“Don’t be afraid of life. Live and don’t be afraid…”.
This post from January 7, 2025 is on the Facebook profile of Inga Keyvan,
the poet from Czernowitz, who read at the globale° festival in Bremen in 2023,
pinned. This phrase, based on William James, stands for Inga’s existential decision: in January, she volunteered for the military. This makes her one of the Ukrainian authors who have opted for the most radical and effective form of resistance.
Like many other cultural workers in action, she also preserved her literary voice. The lecture will focus on how writers at the front articulated their war experiences.
