Uwe Wittstock

°1955 in Leipzig, is a German literary critic, editor and author. He was editor of Focus until 2018. He previously worked as a literary editor for the FAZ, as an editor at S. Fischer and as deputy head of the features section and cultural correspondent for Die Welt. He was awarded the Theodor Wolff Prize for Journalism.
His book February 33 describes the persecution, division, flight and betrayal within the German literary scene in the year of the seizure of power. In his new work, he continues this line to France, following in the footsteps of the fleeing intellectuals of the time.
