Rensing Jr. is passionate about the world of meat and sausage products; even as a child, he helped his father in the butcher shop. He wants to make everything more modern and efficient. But even more important to him is the quality of the meat—only the very best is good enough for his customers. Yet he lacks any understanding of these very customers. He stubbornly tries to put his ideals into practice, but as more and more villagers walk past his shop on their way to the supermarket, his life increasingly becomes the struggle of a lone butcher against the rest of the world.
