Son of Doubt
In his debut novel, Max Czollek takes us on a literary road trip through various cities, beginning in Vienna and ending on Rügen. It is an exploration of German history, memory, and guilt—and of a society put to the test. In his typically critical and reflective manner, Czollek places at the center of the story a character who is at odds with himself and the world, and who finds himself in situations that demand he come to terms with and define his place in relation to himself and the world.

Max Czollek
Born in 1987 in Berlin, where he still lives today. Among other works, he has published poetry collections and essays at
and is co-editor of *Jalta—Positionen zur jüdischen Gegenwart* (
). In addition,
he is involved with the heimaten project and, since 2021, has served as curator
of the Coalition for a Pluralistic Public Discourse (CPPD) to promote a
pluralistic culture of remembrance.
