Light in the Wings
Kāveh grows up in Iran during the Revolution. While his father, a member of the opposition, disappears overnight into the notorious Evin Prison, his mother keeps their fragile daily life going for Kāveh and his younger brother, Ābtin. They leave Tehran and move into their grandparents’ house on the edge of a mountain, where Ābtin finds refuge in the large garden and Kāveh in Mrs. Medādi’s bookstore. Their new life also includes visits to their father in prison—until, suddenly, everything falls apart. Aidin Halimi vividly recounts growing up in the shadow of history—caught between fear and the hope for a free life,
sustained by the love of her parents.

Aidin Halimi
Born in Iran in 1981, he is an author, poetry slammer, and comedian.
At age 16, he emigrated to Germany and now lives in Berlin. In 2021, he won the Berlin-Brandenburg Poetry Slam Championships. He studied literature and history and has already had his work published in numerous anthologies. His book *HINUNDHERKUNFT* is a collection of highlights from his work; *
