Appeal for donations for Iryna Tschulinina
We document here an appeal for donations from our friend Oxana Matiychuk from the Gedankendach Center in Chernivtsi.
Love all,
Most of you probably know that a refugee who came from Mariupol with her daughter (then a student at our university) has been living in our house since March 2022.
Her name is Iryna Chulinina.
It turned out that Iryna stayed with us, her daughter lives and works in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Iryna has been ill with cancer for over a year and underwent chemotherapy after the operation.
She has a neuroendocrine tumor, which is probably rare.
In May, she underwent a screening at the Institute for Cancer Research in Kyiv and was advised to undergo radiotherapy, which is not available in Ukraine.
The result of the consultation in an Israeli “Lisod” branch was also identical to the recommendation of the Cancer Research Institute.

We have decided to look into the possibility of self-paying treatment in Germany.
Anything else is out of the question for her.
Her daughter Regina and I have sent several inquiries to Germany.
One realistic option is the university clinic in Saarland.
The bill amounts to 8618.36 euros (enclosed).
Iryna and her daughter have some savings, but they are nowhere near enough.
On top of that, of course, there are the travel costs.
And unfortunately it is a place and a region where I have no friends or acquaintances who could help with the logistics or organization.
That’s why I’m turning to you who know me personally and who know what I’m doing and why: please support Iryna with any donation you can.
A good friend of ours in Berlin has made his German bank account available (thank you very much for that, dear Keno!):

Thank you very much – every amount counts.

Ireyna originally comes from the city of Alchevsk in the Luhansk region.
In 2015, she moved to Mariupol with her daughter from the Donbas, which had been “liberated” by the Russians, so that she could obtain a recognized school-leaving certificate and go to university.
Regina came to Chernivtsi to study administrative sciences; I got to know her as a very committed student who was our last intern in the thought roof before Covid.
Iryna worked at “Azov Steel” in the warehouse logistics department.
She left behind a house in Alchevsk, her ex-husband and her brother stayed in the occupied territory.
