globale° 2024 - ...despite this world
Bremen | Bremerhaven
…despite this world the globale° festival for cross-border literature will take place for the 17th time in 2024. The list of global and domestic political events that need to be defied is long. In response to them, a policy of fear and repression is presented as a necessity.
…despite this world or precisely because of it, we would like to give a voice to authors who, with their writing, their stories and their experiences, broaden our view of the complexity and diversity of our society at over 20 events with more than 40 guests this year.
Uwe Wittstock will open the festival in conversation with Ronya Othmann: Two authors whose thematic frame of reference ranges from the flight of German-language writers during the Second World War to the ongoing persecution of Ezidi women. Selma Kay Matter’s debut explores the boundaries of physical norms and health, Luna Ali blurs memory and the present, this year’s winner of the Leipzig Book Fair Prize Barbi Marković will bring the beasts of everyday life in the middle class to life twice with her horror miniatures, and Annett Gröschner, Peggy Mädler and Wenke Seemann will plan the ideal state over a glass of pineapple punch. We are also looking forward to music from the Rotten Golden Hands, a visit from the 1st German-Czech Cabaret and the Literary Walk.
Tatjana Vogel, Daniel Schmidt, Libuše Černá, Karen Struve, Ina Schenker, Lore Kleinert, Elisabeth Arend, Klaas Anders, Tobias Pollok, Viktorie Knotková and Tabea M. Dörfel.
