Donka Dimova: The house in the distance

Poems and conversation

An apartment building that stands symbolically in Gröpelingen and carries many stories from Bulgaria, Turkey, Bremen and other places. They are held together by Nadezda, whose name means hope. She makes people speak. Floor by floor, apartment by apartment, room by room, the fates of the unheard are strung together. Anecdotes, wisdom about life abroad, Bulgarian songs and conversations create a panorama of a society on the margins. This book is an attempt to come closer.
