Readings exclusively for high school and college students at the globale° Festival

For this year’s globale° Festival, the young globale° is bringing two authors to the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art, where they will read from their new publications for Bremen schools and students – Donka Dimova will read from her poetry collection *Mehrfamilienhaus ohne Ausicht* in German, and Justine Sow will read from her comic *Wax Paradoxe* in French.

We warmly invite interested high school students, teachers, and college students to these events, which are exclusively for young people!

Admission is free.

• October 28, 2026, 10:00–11:30 a.m.: Donka Dimova reads from her prose poems Apartment Building Without a View (2025, Klak Verlag) for students at the Secondary Level II:

Gröpelingen—a neighborhood in Bremen where newcomers settle, one of many in Germany. An apartment building and many stories from Bulgaria, Turkey, Bremen, and other places. Poetic tales of expectations and failure, family dramas and the search for a future, of pride and the lack of words. They are held together by Nadezda, whose name means “hope.” She encourages people to speak up. Floor by floor, apartment by apartment, room by room, the fates of those who have not been heard unfold one after another. Through anecdotes, insights into life abroad, Bulgarian songs, and conversations, a panorama of a marginalized society emerges. This book is an attempt to bridge the gap…

Donka Dimova was born in 1986 in Burgas, Bulgaria. She studied political science and European studies in Bremen and Hanover and currently works as a poet, translator, and cultural mediator. Her first poetry collection, *Translation of Everyday Life*, was published in 2014, and since 2016 she has been leading artistic and educational projects for children and young people. In 2022, she received the Emerging Artists Fellowship from the Bremen Authors’ Fellowship, and in 2025 she published her collection of prose poems, *Mehrfamilienhaus ohne Aussicht*.

The reading will take place as part of this year’s globale°, Bremen’s festival for cross-border literature.

• November 27, 2026, 10:00–11:30 a.m. & 1:00–2:30 p.m.:Justine Sow will first lead a workshop on storytelling in comics and then read from her comic *Wax Paradoxe* (2025, Bayard Graphic) for French courses at the A2 level and above (both sessions will be held in French):

Today, colorful wax fabric is regarded worldwide as the epitome of African identity—yet its roots lie in Indonesia and European colonial history. In her comic *Wax Paradoxe* (2025), Justine Sow tells the story of Sophia, a design student who sets out to get to the bottom of this fascinating contradiction.

Good to know: The comic was part of the 2025–2026 edition of the Francomics competition, so there is a wealth of material available online for foreign language instruction.

Justine Sow is Born in Brussels. Since 2008, she has been working as a journalist in the audiovisual sector, covering social and political issues. After studying journalism, she earned an interuniversity certificate in migration, ethnic diversity, and intercultural relations in 2016. In 2024, she also completed a master’s degree in comics and publishing in Brussels. In February 2025, her book *Wax Paradoxe* her first self-published album as a writer and illustrator.

The reading will take place as part of this year’s Print Art Festival at the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art.
