Decamerone
Decamerone globale°
In times of isolation, literature offers a place of inspiration and medium of cross-border communication. However, many authors find themselves in a precarious financial situation: new books cannot be promoted at readings and are difficult to buy.

In the last 14 years, more than 200 authors from all over the world have participated in the Bremen literature festival globale°. We asked them if they would like to provide us with texts – whether read by themselves or by Theater Bremen actors, filmed or in written form. Under the title “Decamerone globale° – literature in times of isolation” you can now listen to and read it.
[1] The namesake of this action is the collection of novellas by the early modern Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio, the “Il Decamerone”. This “ten-day work” is about the essence of storytelling in times of closed houses (in the spring and summer of 1348 Florence was struck by the plague).
Here you will find an introduction to the work.
